Palo Alto's first 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and take your yoga

practice to a new level!

This foundational 200-Hour training, accredited by Yoga Alliance,

will be centered around three core objectives:

  • Advance Your Practice

  • Cultivate Equanimity

  • Journey Into Teaching

This training is designed to give students a deeper understanding of the 8 limbs of yoga, including the history, philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and asana — as well as provide students with tools to develop their own equanimity. On that foundation, students will begin to explore the vast pedagogy of yoga, build skills think critically about the practices of yoga, and teach others using a simple, methodical approach. Students will practice advanced alignment-based asana each morning and dive into discussions, learning labs, and various projects each afternoon.

Topics Covered:

  • Advanced asana, pranayama, and meditation practices

  • Functional anatomy and physiology of the whole body

  • Subtle body anatomy and traditional eastern anatomical systems

  • Detailed alignment of commonly taught postures, as well as modifications and benefits

  • Injury prevention and recovery for teachers and students

  • Finding your voice as a teacher and developing clear, concise cues

  • Pedagogy of yoga, and how to instruct with inquiry and encourage active learning

  • Smart, logical, and purposeful sequencing

  • Hands-on adjustments and trauma-informed teaching

  • History of yoga and the influence of different cultures on yogic practices

  • Philosophy of yoga including the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and other Vedic Texts

  • Modern application of yoga and teaching to special populations (pregnant women, athletes, etc.)

At the end of this training, students will have developed:

  • a deep understanding of their relationship with themselves, their own yoga practice, and their tendencies

  • proficiency in the yogic tools and techniques available to find personal equanimity, joy, and purpose

  • knowledge of how to teach an alignment-based yoga class thoughtfully, methodically, and skillfully

This training is suitable for any intermediate to advanced practitioner who have held a steady practice for at least 2-years and who can demonstrate commitment to an 11-week training program. Students may pursue the training with the goal of teaching or with the goal of advancing their own personal practice or understanding of yoga.
